Located in South Auckland, L'Oréal's new Distribution Centre was the first in New Zealand to achieve a 6-Star Green Star Design rating under the v1.1 Tool.

TLC acted as nominated Green Star Accredited Professional (GSAP) for this groundbreaking project which, in addition to a long list of Sustainable Green Star outcomes, significantly reduced upfront carbon impacts and waste via reuse and major refurbishment of an existing building rather than constructing a new one.  

By reusing structures, materials, and infrastructure, renovation dramatically reduces the carbon footprint associated with new construction—especially the emissions tied to manufacturing and transporting new building materials. It also keeps tonnes of waste out of landfills by preserving rather than demolishing. 

Renovating shows leadership in ESD by extending the life of a building while minimising environmental impact, making it one of the smartest and most responsible paths in modern construction.
